Skin Cancer Surgery

Skin cancer, the most common type of cancer in the world, occurs when cells on the skin surface are uncontrollably multiplied because of damaged DNA structures. Melanoma, the most dangerous type of skin cancer, is the least visible among cases of skin cancer. 75% of deaths in skin cancer occur due to melanoma cases, while the mortality rate in this disease is 1 per 100 patients.

Solar rays come at the head of factors that cause melanoma which can develop on a mole that exists on the skin or in a normal skin cell. Especially in skin cancer where the exposed areas of the body are at direct risk, disease can also occur in areas of the body that do not receive any sun ray.

Early diagnosis and correct treatment of skin cancer are crucial. The melanoma, which shows symptoms on the skin, which is easier to detect than most cancer cases, especially the moles, should be followed carefully. Moles that lose symmetrical shape, moles with recessed protruding surface, moles with different color tones are melanoma symptoms. Also, moles with a diameter greater than 5mm are also risky tissues.

If skin cancer is confirmed by the pathology report, the only effective treatment of the disease is surgical practice. In the treatment of skin cancer, rates of success with surgical treatment are considerably high. Also, esthetic and functional protection should be taken care when the cancerous cell is destroyed.
